Curly Toes

Curly toes occur in babies and young children and are seen where one toe curls underneath another. The most commonly affected are the third and fourth toes. They can sometimes cause pain and discomfort during activity. They can also affect the nail by causing changes to the growth and development of the nail due to pressure. Most of the time there are no symptoms associated with the presence of curly toes.

Curly toes is thought to be considered a genetic condition where a parent may pass it on to their child. Treatment is not needed in all cases. Our Podiatrists are able to assess the curly toes and determine whether any treatment is necessary. Some treatment options include footwear advice or modifications, massage and stretching programs and taping if necessary.
